The club finished the season with style – a great BBQ hosted by Garry. Many thanks to him and his wife for all their efforts and to everyone who chipped in with delectable desserts.

Also thanks to Chris for getting us a good write-up for the Photographer of the Year winner in the Tavistock Times. It is obviously a discerning publication as they rejected the picture of me presenting Garry with the trophy and printed three of Garry’s competition images.

With all this sunshine I hope everyone is out there taking good images for the upcoming season. In particular, we need that stunning “Opening Shot” image for our first meeting on Wednesday the 5th of September (a single print to be judged by the members). With only one image per member it would be fantastic if everyone brings an image, it makes an evening of it and it allows us to get to know everyone’s photographic style. There are so many photographic opportunities out there over the summer: we had a great day at the South Devon Railway 1940s event (thank to Hazel for that tip-off); there are the local shows and summer events at Morwellham (Steampunk in August)

Tommy Hatwell is presenting at the next meeting (if he ever stops drinking coffee and gets on with writing the presentation).

As I said in my first blog posting, the club is in great shape, with strong images being produced for both internal and external competitions. There must be things we can do better or things we should start doing, so please feel free to bend my ear with your ideas for the club. Also, any ideas on how to create interest in the club and find new members would be gratefully received.
